NewsNew Video Posted - 11-08-08For those of you who haven't gotten a chance to pick up a copy of "The Space Parlour: Live in St. Louis Series 2008," you can now stream both of our videos from the session online. Check out "Half Pint" and (the recently added) "Evergreen." Just go to our photo/video page here, or you can check 'em out on the ever-popular YouTube. Busy Beavers - 10-29-08We've got three very exciting things to mention today. First, we've begun recording the new full-length. We're still sharing ideas and hashing out exactly what we're going for, but being underway is a good sign. Secondly, tonight we'll be reconvening at Kevin Buckley's underground studio to mix the Bad Folk/Theodore 7" record. We regretfully announce the break up of our friends Bad Folk. They were our favorite band in town, and still are some of our favorite people. Lastly, if you didn't see the blog on our myspace page, we've got some free songs availalbe here. They are live recordings that were done of a show Justin played solo recently at Off Broadway. The downloads include two previously unreleased songs and a cover of Damien Jurado's "Fuel." The new split 7" is well underway - 10-20-08We spent the better part of a day yesterday tracking for the split record in Kevin Buckley's studio. Almost everything we planned, and a few interesting things we didn't, got laid down. Members of each band played on the recording of the other. Within a week we plan to begin mixing, and, with any luck, we'll have a release date in the later months of the winter season. More updates are sure to follow. Theodore joins forces with the Undertow Music Collective - 10-15-08Theodore is proud to announce today their partnership with Christine Sanley of the Undertow Music Collective. Undertow is a management group that currently works with such artists as Centro-matic and David Bazan. We first met Christine when she managed booking for The Billiken Club at St. Louis University. She's since moved on to bigger and better things, like joining the Undertow family. We think Christine has a lot to bring to the table for Team Teddy, and look forward to working with Undertow in the future. RFT names Theodore "Best Country Band (Alternative)" - 9-25-08St. Louis' local alternative paper, The River Front Times, has named Theodore the "Best Country Band (Alternative)" of 2008. Check out a copy today, or read it online here. You'll find Theodore alongside of other 'bests' like "Best Bagels," and "Best Yarn Store." A Split Record in the Making - 9-21-08After about a year of plotting, putting it off, and plotting again, Theodore and Bad Folk have finally set a date to record songs for a split 7" in mid-october. Kevin Buckley of Grace Basement will engineer Theodore's "Old Sarah" and Bad Folk's "Charcoal" for the release. More information is sure to come in the near future. By the way, if you missed the Space Parlour "Live in St. Louis" release last night you did yourself a disservice. It was a great chance to help our community radio station, KDHX. If you didn't come by and get a copy of the CD/DVD release, which contains live versions of the songs "Half Pint" and "Nowhere Near the Sea," among many others from St. Louis' finest, you can still get it from us at shows. Nick Acquisto's show, The Space Parlour, airs now on KDHX88.1 every Thursday night at 8:00pm. Shows are also available to stream online up to two weeks down the road. The End of Summer - 9-10-08As the summer winds to a close Theodore is putting the van on it's resting block and once again putting a microphone or two to tape. Rough demos of unrecorded songs are being made and ideas are being shared about what the next record will be like. Will it be small? Will it be tall? Will it have your favorite new song on it? These answers and many more to come... You can expect mostly local shows until October when we plan to do a few dates out and about. And other news is coming soon... Record Release - June 21 - 6-08-08Just a reminder, folks. The record will be out on the 21st of June. It will be a night of surprises, and some excellent bands. Don't miss it. We won't be playing again in St. Louis until mid-August, so you better get your summer fix of traditional folk/americana music while you can. And while you're at it you can pick up a vinyl copy of "Defeated, TN" and get a free mp3 download. Is that hi-tech, or what? It's the best of both worlds. Summer Tour Update - 5-13-08Justin has been working long hours with bloodshot eyes and no overtime, slamming espresso, and busting his e-balls to get our summer tour all booked up. Yesterday we heard positive confirmation from a venue in Knoxville; it was the last hole in a 20 day voyage we're planning around the eastern side of the US this summer. Information about these shows can be found here. We're all very proud of our hard worker. Much sleep is in order, but not yet. With the new record complete and off to Europe for pressing and packaging, it's time to get our act together for the record release show on June 21st. We will be accompanied by Rats and People and Tim Rakel's May Day Orchestra. It will be an evening not to be missed! "Defeated, TN" - 1-30-08We finished the recording and mixing process on our new record at The Penny Studio. Currently it's being mastered by Carl Saff in Chicago. We intend to release the record on 12" vinyl and include a CD copy in the record sleeve. We're saving every penny we get to press it sometime this spring so you can have a copy to hold in your hands. Artwork is still in the works. Suggestions and help are greatly appreciated. If you are interested in doing cover artwork for the record contact us at music.theodore@gmail.com Availability of "Songs for the Weary"Currently you can purchase our record at A-Pop records and Vintage Vinyl in St. Louis, and Stinkweeds Records in Phoenix, AZ. If you're feeling technologically savvy, you can now purchase the entire album on iTunes or order it online at CD Baby. Of course, you can still pick up a copy at any of our shows. |
